PPBA Show 2013!!!

Posted by Catherine, Thode Family Farm on February 5, 2013 at 2:40 AM

Well, we've been home a little over a week from having a great time at the Pacific Poultry Breeders show in Stockton, California. It was wonderful to see so many friends that we rarely get a chance to see. This year, the PPBA show was host to the ABA National meet so there were over 3800 birds exhibited! Good friends, good food and lots of poultry. As an added plus, Bubba our 6 1/2 year old Narragansett tom won Champion Turkey and our youngest son's young Bronze tom won Reserve Champion Turke...

Wow, haven't updated much on the website for quite awhile! Well, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and Valentine's Day and here we are in March! We actually took a vacation towards the end of July last summer and since then we've been dealing with some family health issues and life in general and if you can believe this...the chickens had to take a back seat for awhile! In January we attended the Pacific Poultry Breeders Assn. show in Stockton where it was good to see friends and admire the man...

Since I'm still confined to quarters I've got a bit more time on my hands this last week (unfortunately not much energy to do anything with it!). Last night my husband came in from outside and grabbed the camera. Here is what he captured:

Posted by thodefamilyfarm on May 1, 2010 at 4:57 PM

On Thursday, April 29th we awoke to find 2 goslings hatched under Zachary's new Sebastopol goose!  Later that day a third gosling emerged.  We think this female is a first time mom and was only sitting on 6 eggs. She is still sitting but it's been over 24 hours since the last gosling hatched so we're thinking maybe there will only be these three little ones.  The father is so sweet, taking the little ones over to the food and water and helps keep them warm. ...

Beautiful weekend!

Posted by thodefamilyfarm on March 15, 2010 at 2:46 PM

Can it be that spring is finally here? What a beautiful weekend...just great to be outdoors in the sunshine and see life bursting forth in sprouts and blooms.  Of course, it doesn't take long of being outdoors to see the many things that need doing around here after a long, wet winter!  We spent much of the weekend cleaning pens, setting up breeding pens, dusting, worming, clipping toenails and de-spurring a few of the boys...
